Dear Parents,
We are very excited to announce that we are ready to roll out the Accelerated Reader program! We have some new and exciting changes this year!
● Your child can choose to participate in this amazing enrichment program by filling out a form, opting into the program.
● Your child will read a book at home or in school.
● Your child will take the Accelerated Reader test in school ONLY.
● Reports will be run on a monthly basis.
● In addition, your child can earn AR points towards a bronze, silver and gold level. Their name will appear on the bulletin board in the cafeteria.
Students who attain the gold level status will be included in a celebration of their accomplishment at the end of the year. The top point earners in each grade will be specially recognized for their outstanding work at the AR party! Please see the letter attached at the bottom for the point requirements by grade level.
AR tests may only be taken in school, in your students’ classrooms. Currently, the AR lab is not available.
There are several good sources to determine whether a book is part of the AR program, and how many points a given book is worth. is a great source. You can also use the app Points Scan Free (available on Google Play Store), or Book Scanner ($1.99) to scan the UPC code on a book to see if it is a part of the program.
If you wish to see how your student is progressing with AR, go to the link below. You can sign up for email alerts on this site, as well. You will need your child’s student number to log on, and their birth date as your password (mo/day/year). If you don’t know your student’s ID number, your teacher can provide it.
If you have any questions regarding the Accelerated Reader program, please feel free to contact Carolina Aponte at Ready…Set… READ!
